Leslie has over thirty years’ experience in commercial real estate in several different roles for many institutions and private investment firms. Her early career, after receiving her MBA in Finance and Real Estate, was in commercial real estate banking, which is where she first got experience in handling distressed commercial real estate loans, as well as originating new loans for major US development firms of office, industrial, hotels and condominiums. Her career has been spent in distressed commercial real estate debt during down cycles, and for the rest of her career she has specialized in the apartment industry. She has been a Chief Investment Officer for three different apartment investment firms, as well as a Vice President of Acquisitions and Vice President of Asset Management for Equity Residential. Leslie has also been an investment sales broker for apartment investment listings for two major national investment brokerage firms. Her career transaction completions are over $10 billion in transactions, and she has a specialty in transacting apartment portfolio transactions across the country in both acquisitions and sales of apartment assets. Leslie also co-founded an apartment investment firm in Chicago, Atlas Apartment Homes, wherein she purchased $500 million in apartment properties and established the company’s acquisitions, dispositions and asset management departments, as well as sat on the firm’s investment committee and well as being a board member of the company,
Education
Leslie received her AB from Kenyon College with a degree in History, and received her MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Finance and Real Estate.
